Gallery & Museum

For a cultural fix, pop into Strait Works art gallery (managed by the Furneaux Community Arts) which presents exciting new exhibitions from local artists and crafts people. A number of the local shops will also stock works form local artists.

Step into Bowmans History Room in Whitemark with its amazing collection of shop items, photographs and account books going back to its origins in 1921.

Head up to Emita to visit the Furneaux Museum which has artefacts dating from some of Australia’s earliest European settlements, including an anchor from the Sydney Cove, wrecked on Preservation Island in 1797, including information on the dark history of Wybalenna and the aboriginal settlement on the Island.
