The Furneaux region blends natural bushland with rural landscapes, home to a variety of native animals including Bennetts, Pademelon and Potoroo wallabies, possums, wombats, and echidnas.
The islands also boast a stunning array of wildflowers, easily explored by road or along walking tracks. Among the highlights are the shy bush and rock orchids, drawing botanists from across Australia.
By day, the islands’ diverse birdlife comes alive. Over 200 species visit or reside here, from soaring seabirds and raptors to the endangered 40-Spotted Pardalote and Cape Barren Geese. From January to April, the Settlement Point Viewing Platform at Port Davies offers a front-row seat to millions of Shearwaters returning at dusk.
